As some of you who may already know because you follow me on social media. Or if you may not know because you are brand spanking new to my blog, I have decided to start my own business. This is something I have been thinking about ever since I was in high school. I even went to college for Business Management. However, all of this time it has only been an idea and I have never done anything to start the process until July. I decided to obtain my EIN (Employer Identification Number) in July and then I jumped up one Saturday in August and said it is time. To be honest, I have been back and forth with exactly I wanted to do. All I knew is I need to start something. Come to think of it, last year or early in the year I started thinking about this and started to brainstorm a name. Sadly, every name I came up with was taken. So I put the idea in the back of my head and completely forgot about it until I was feeling depressed about God know’s what and stumbled upon a post by @msblingmiami on Instagram.
“msblingmiamiIf it’s money you need to open or grow your business, you’re focusing on the wrong thing! You don’t need lots of money to take you to the next level….you need focus! I know you believe in God and may even have faith, but your fear of failing is hindering your success. Success doesn’t start with a huge bang, a grand opening celebration with a fully stocked store “looking” successful before you’ve made a dollar. It’s a slow crawl that can be sustained for a lifetime. If it’s a shoe store you want to open and don’t have the capital to pay the lease and purchase inventory, that’s ok! You can start online, start at the flea market or do pop up shops. You may not be able to purchase the 40 styles you really like if you had a store. However, you can purchase 2 styles you absolutely love and sell it! Take that money and buy 4 more styles, pray harder and repeat. It won’t be easy as you’ll have to sacrifice if you want it bad enough! You won’t be able to vacation, buy those pretty shoes or go to those parties. Instead, you’ll be busy focusing on growing and learning how to be better than you were yesterday. Before you know it those couple hundred dollar bills you thought weren’t enough to start/grow your business has now made you a “Thousandaire”! It may even make you a millionaire, all without repaying a single loan. Whatever you want to do, know all it takes is prayer, drive, ambition and 100% of your focus. I challenge you to start, restart, get up and make it happen. Faith and fear cannot coexist! Take charge of your life, increase your faith then watch God shower you with supernatural favor for all the days of your life!🙏🏽💗-Ms. Bling #WhileYouWatchEveroneLookRichOnTheGram#StartNowAndBuildTheWealthUAreDestinedFor #Pray_HustleLegally_AndRepeat#BeEncouragedYouCanDoIt🙌🏽🙏🏽💗 “**
When I tell you this spoke volumes to me. I literally felt such an inspiration after reading this. It felt as if she was speaking directly to me. I started doing research immediately and took the time to write down all of my ideas. By the time Monday came around, I was filling out my sales tax certificate and the following day requested my business registration certificate. I started securing most of my social media handles. Then when my next day off came around I drove to my job to fill out the PO BOX application and print my sales tax certificate and business registration certificate. Yes, you read correctly. I drove to my job because I didn’t have a laptop at the time so I was doing everything else at work either before my shift started or I would clock out when I returned to base and work on the computer doing research. Then I drove to the post office to get my PO BOX keys (I was given 2). To be honest, every time I accomplished something on my goal list it made me feel so good about myself. I noticed my thought process started changing. My mind was opening up to a new world and I loved it. I downloaded the audible app and I chose “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” as my first book. I ate, slept and dreamed this book. It is such a good read. OK, now I am rambling.
I then realized I had so much damn junk in my apartment and I needed an office space. And that’s when some would think I have lost my damn mind because I went on a serious purge and clutter. I got rid of so many baths and body works products, old papers, makeup, nail polish, hair products, clothes, shoes, handbags etc. If I didn’t use it, it went bye-bye. I then moved my vanity from my bedroom to the living room because I wanted my little office to be in the living room and I moved one of my couches to my bedroom.
Next on the list was…you guessed it, I needed a computer. So I started stalking sales and sites because Labor Day was around the corner and I settled on a laptop. By the time the laptop came, I had already bought my domain (which is this one of course) and designed the basics from my phone. I went to pick up my laptop from Fed-Ex because I didn’t trust it being delivered to my building and I would have to go POSTAL if someone stole it. And I finish tweaking the basics of this blog. I started doing more to my social media accounts so they would match this blog. I bought the domain site for my business website through Shopify. And after speaking with a good friend of mine who is into technology, he advised that I also buy the .com and .net and linked them together so no one could buy it and commit fraud with my company name. And I chose godaddy.com to do accomplish that.
So let’s see what I have accomplished thus far…… *drum roll please*
